I haven't used spook for quite a while, but I managed to view an
XviD-encoded stream as Quicktime on Windows. I'm afraid I don't recall
how I did this anymore, but it's definitely possible.

Watching a strip a frame every few seconds certainly is a nuisance...
you definitely should go Quicktime! Otherwise all the best bits will
be left out :-)
